Overheard remarks

You told Jim that you were uncomfortable about the joke but decided to do nothing else. A few days later, while you and Jim are doing some laundry and household chores, Jim makes a remark as a ‘joke’ directed towards the young person about the clothes they are wearing. The young person laughs and appears to find it funny but you feel uncomfortable by the remark.

What's your next step?

Option 1: You decide to have a ‘quiet word’ with Jim to say that the remark was not appropriate and advise him to be careful about making jokes in case these are misinterpreted.
