It’s always worth thinking about the resources available to make sure they are appropriate to the children’s needs and interests. For toddler rooms, it is important that the amount of resources supports the children’s parallel play which is linked to their social development (not yet able to fully understand the concept of sharing or cooperating), and that resources are available to support any identified schemas, this might mean re-thinking the range and amount of resources available, and how the play area is laid out.

Finding out a bit more about each child through observations and discussions with colleagues and family to inform planning.
