Statutory failings
The duty team receive a call from a neighbour raising concerns about a family you work with. The referrer states that they have seen Luke (aged 6) wandering around the streets on his own late at night. They pass this information to you as the case holder social worker.
Please listen to the telephone call and decide what you should do next. Please choose one of the three options below.
What's your next step?
Option 1: You are busy dealing with other cases and take a note but will follow this up later in the week.
Option 2: You immediately tell your manager and initiate child protection proceedings in line with your policies.
Option 3: You call Luke’s parents and tell them the information you have received and ask them if this is true.
