The SSSC registers people who work in early years and residential
child care, adult day care and residential care, care at home and
housing support services.
To register with the SSSC you must satisfy the criteria for
registration. This includes holding, or agreeing to work towards, the
appropriate qualifications for the job they do.
If you do not currently hold all the required qualifications we can
still grant your registration subject to the condition that you
achieve the required qualifications within your first period of
registration.
New workers need to achieve registration within six months of starting
a new role.

It is important that you appreciate the learner’s needs, and you are aware of the adjustments and resources which are available which could support the learner. For example, there are simple adjustments that can be made to support someone with Dyslexia using a coloured acetate overlay, changing the colour on a computer/device screen and using coloured Papers. In your role as supervisor you will be expected to provide
constructive and meaningful feedback to the learner to support their
development and progress through their induction period.
The Supporting Effective Practice Learning resource unit 4 looks at
feedback. There is a helpful section on enablers and barriers to
providing constructive feedback.
During the programme you will participate in reflective discussions
with the learner to explore their practice. Reflection is an important
part of learning.
There are several different models of reflection that you could use to
make sure reflection is effective.
To capture your reflections, it may be helpful to develop a reflective
diary or log. Templates to support this are available.
