You continued to look at Kay’s record on the client record system.
You are then approached by Kay’s assigned worker who sees from the system notes that you have been accessing Kay’s records and he is not sure why.

What's your next step?
Option 1: You explain to the worker your family connection and explain you were only accessing the records out of concerns and to monitor the situation in case your cousin needed your support, that you haven’t altered any records. It was a mistake out of concern for your cousin and you won’t do it again.
Option 2: You tell the worker why and inform your line manager.
Option 3: You tell the worker the case is linked to something you are involved in and you were just gathering information. You do not disclose the personal relation with Kay.
