You are working in a residential child care setting and a young person Ryan returns from spending the weekend with his family. He is displaying challenging behaviour as he is upset about something. He has started kicking walls and slamming doors within the unit and swearing at staff. You find yourself on your own with Ryan.

Option 3: You shout at Ryan and tell him to go to his room, as being assertive will enable you to take control of the situation.
