Dilemmas about choices
You decided explain to Amy that as Isobel did not receive personal care support there is nothing to record. A fortnight later, your manager, Lindsay, asks to speak to you in her office.

Option 1: You tell Lindsay you have already had a discussion with Amy so she should speak to Amy about this.
Option 2: You explain that you had a previous conversation with Amy that you did not record Isobel’s refusal. You acknowledge that you should have done and will assist in any way to fill in the gaps in recording. You also acknowledge you should have raised your concerns.
Option 3: You understand the family and local authority concerns but note that you were respecting Isobel’s choice not to have personal care. She has capacity to make her own decisions and you are satisfied that you have been following the SSSC Code of Practice for Social Service Workers, Sections 1 and 3.
