Learning outomes

  1. Describe health promoting activities and their role in supporting people with dementia to live well.
  2. Recognise good practice in the prevention, identification, care and treatment of other physical or psychological health concerns; including pain, delirium and depression.
  3. Describe a range of evidence based approaches that can be used to recognise, prevent and alleviate distress for people with dementia and those that provide care and support, including unpaid carers and family members.
  4. Identify specific risks relating to pharmacological care for people with dementia with regards to both physical and psychological health.
  5. Recognise good practice in palliative and end of life care, including the contribution that advance planning and appropriate recording can make to the quality of life of the person with dementia that is dying.
