Help promote the event by ‘Social reporting’

Social reporting happens when people use social media to report collectively and live from events, such as workshops and conferences.

Participants share their thoughts, reflections and ideas (light bulb moments) using text, photos, videos. It’s a great way to share and record learning.

Social reporting does not necessarily replace traditional methods such as pen, paper and flipcharts. It’s complementary to these methods and is not compulsory. Everyone can join in as much or as little as they wish.   And we don’t expect everyone to use all possible tools.  Just use the ones you’re comfortable with.

All you need to participate in social reporting is a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Here’s what we suggest:

  • Twitter
Make comments, share your light bulb moments, take photos and post them to Twitter.  Remember to include the hashtag for this event, #scbd15, in your tweets. Using the hashtag will make it easy to find all the tweets about this event.
  • Audioboom.com
Record your thoughts, upload to Audioboom and share them on Twitter under the hashtag #scbd15
  • Storify.com
Find all the Tweets with hashtag #scbd15. Select the ones you like and publish them as your own record of the day. Here is a record of a recent event created by IRISS as an example of what is possible and Storify has a guided tour if you need help getting started.
  • Medium.com
Medium is great for writing your own story of the event.  It’s easy to include photos, audio and video.  Find out how to get started and take a look at an example of one IRISS created recently.
