6. Non-accessible content

We are working towards making the website fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines. The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

NON-COMPLIANCE WITH ACCESSIBILITY REGULATIONS

  • The videos do not have transcripts or closed captions. We are working to add transcripts and captions to all the videos featured in this resource and this work will be completed by December 2023.
  • Some images are used as buttons and do not contain alt text or link titles. We are working on fixing this and this work will be completed by December 2023.
  • Some images on the home page do not have alt text. We will ensure all images have alt text by December 2023.
  • The "Go back" navigation button is an image and features text which is not readable by screen readers. We will replace this with a button using readable text by December 2023.
  • Not all links have link titles. We will ensure that this is fixed by December 2023.

This statement was prepared on 21st June 2023. It was last reviewed on 21st June 2023.

The test was carried out by the SSSC using the Accessibility Insights for Web tool.

8. Additional information about this website’s accessibility.

The following list provides extra details about what we have done to make the website accessible.

  • This website can be used in portrait or landscape orientation.
  • It will display well on a range of devices including mobile phones.
  • Content can be zoomed up to 300% without spilling off the screen. This does not happen on the mobile versions, but your phone’s accessibility systems (if used) will allow you to do this.
  • Content which is resized on a large scale is arranged in a single column. When resized there is no loss of information and the majority of images will also remain.
  • There is no loss of information or function when the text spacing is changed by the user, this includes line height, spaces following paragraphs, letter spacing, and word spacing.
  • The site can be navigated using a keyboard and no keyboard traps found. This means the user should always be able to navigate in and out of any spaces using a keyboard.
  • The website pages were tested with W3C Mark-up Validator Service in June 2023. No errors were found.

This resource was created by and is maintained by the SSSC Digital Learning Team.
